Hyderabad|India|November'2009: Gajju, the ‘Golden elephant’ is the
new mascot of Hyderabad now days,or for the week at least. Since last Saturday he has been
entertaining the residents of Hyderabad and also the visitors from far and
wide with his enchanting colorful presence at the air port , traffic
medians and also the shopping malls of historic city of Charminar . In
fact his popularity has grown to such heights, particularly among the
children and younger generation that policy makers and opinion makers have
begin to consider Gajju as the new mascot of Cyberbad.
It is in fitness of things that Gajju , the golden elephant , has been
chosen as the mascot of the international children’s film festival .
Because Gajju represented the innocence , brightness, huge potential ,
determination and also the open-ness of the children and youth . ‘ No
other animal or bird can represent the children and youth better than the
baby elephant ‘, says Bapu , prominent family and children’s film maker of
the state .
One could find the inflatable ballons of Gajju , standing at the IMAX
besides huge hoardings at bus stands, railway stations and also shopping
malls and also lalitakala thoranam. “ It appears like the state capital is
invaded by golden baby elephants ‘ said a senior bureaucrat on arrival
from Delhi today.
The child delegates and orphan children are more thrilled with reception
given to them by the two baby golden elephants at the door way to Prasad’s
IMAX . Children played around the pachyderms and also posed for photos to
carry back home good memories of their week long sojourn at Hyderabad.
