Hyderabad|India|August'2010:
Pullela Gopichand Nimmagadda Foundation Badminton Academy is organising a
badminton tournament exclusively for Corporates - Let’s Shuttle, from
September 17 to 19, 2010 at Pullela Gopichand Academy, here. Let’s Shuttle
is a brain child of former All England Champion and iconic badminton
coach, Pullela Gopichand, to raise funds to upgrade infrastructure and
train badminton champions for the country. The Tournament is supported by
industry organizations like TiE, CII and ITsAP and the idea and marketing
is by an innovative start up firm ‘XL Consulting’.
Gopichand who has been providing subsidized and free training to several
hundred kids says, I believe in the immense potential Indians have to
become world champions. World champions can be produced only when the
right infrastructure and training is provided along with the holistic
support facilities. Let’s Shuttle is an attempt to achieve my objective of
creating tomorrow’s champions by popularizing the sport and creating
consciousness on health and fitness. This fundraiser tournament will
enable me to expand my infrastructure and training facilities to support
deserving kids.
Let’s Shuttle is designed to inculcate fitness amongst corporate
executives with an element of fun and will have employees from leading
corporate vying for glory while enjoying themselves. The Tournament has
unique game formats like ‘Bring it On!’ and will have General doubles,
Mixed doubles, Executive Doubles (Senior Management), Ladies Doubles,
Triples (Bring it On!) game formats.
There will be exhibition matches with celebrities displaying their feather
skills. Spectators will have quizzes, games and entertainment
extravaganza, the likes of which have never been experienced before.
Another unique activity as a part of Let’s Shuttle is ‘Talent Search’.
Kids between the 7-10 yrs., of age from various schools will be provided
an opportunity to exhibit their latent talent, the deserving ones will be
handpicked for further training at the Academy.
The response for the Tournament from Corporate has been tremendous with
several Companies confirming participation of 15 players from each one of
