Outer Ring Road,
PVNR Expressway ramps, Hussainsagar cleaning up
etc to complete on war footing

Hyderabad|India|August'2010: The Chief Minister Dr K Rosaiah asked
the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to hasten up the
projects like the Outer Ring Road, PVNR Expressway ramps, Hussainsagar
cleaning up etc. and complete it on war footing. The Chief Minister
reviewed the projects being undertaken by the HMDA and other related
projects with minister and top officials at Secretariat. Dr Rosaiah also
released the Revised Development Plan (Master Plan) for the erstwhile
Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad Area (HMDA Core Area) prepared by the
HMDA and is approved by the Government. He also released a DVD in this
regard.
The Master Plan is prepared synchronising all the places in twin cities
giving utmost importance to the infrastructural facilities keeping in view
the possible increase in population. The Master Plan today released is for
the core area of the twin cities and the Master Plan pertaining to the
remaining areas would be ready by the end of October. The life of the
Master Plan, which took ten years time for preparation, is up to 2030.
Highlights of the Master Plan are, increase and improved access to all
parts of the city, improved overall circulation, connectivity, alternative
routes, improved quality of infrastructure, integration of various
projects and conservation of environment and heritage. Internal Colony
roads retained as 40' except major connecting roads. The master plan also
suggests 10 new flyovers, 13 new bridges, 7 new road under bridges and 27
commercial strips and 70 commercial roads. The significant feature of the
Master Plan is a special importance given for protection of the heritage
buildings. Provision is laid down for conversion of the Mothersa Maktha in
front of Raj Bhavan as residential zone.
The population of the capital city of Hyderabad was 75.86 lakhs in the
year 2001. It will cross one crore by 2011 and possibly cross 1.84 crore
by 2031. Keeping in view of this aspect, draft plan is also being
prepared. The another important feature is the Outer Ring Road (ORR)
Project, covering 158 k.ms from Gachibowli to Shamshabad was completed in
three phases, 24.38 k.ms in 1st phase, 62.3 k.ms in 2nd phase and 71.3
k.ms in 3rd phase and 8- line traffic was allowed on this road. Laying of
road from Shamshabad to Pedda Amberpet, which was delayed due to utility
shifting problem, would be over in a short period by completing 58 km
length works by September and traffic would be allowed by October. The
road from Narsing to Patancheru, which is delayed due to litigations,
would be completed by February, 2011. Road from Patancheru to Shameerpet
would also be completed by Nov. 2011.
The ORR would be completed in all aspects by November, 2012 including the
road from Shameerpet to Vijayawada Highway. Precautions will be taken up
with latest technology to regulate the traffic and prevent accidents on
ORR. Latest technology will be utilised in toll sector also. Display
boards regarding traffic jams etc. are also arranged at every 2 km span
for the convenience of road users. Inner Ring Roads are also taken up with
an estimated expenditure of Rs.350 crore covering 44.30 km. Assistance of
JAIKA is also being taken to develop the roads.
Works are in progress for desiltation and treatment of water in Hussain
Sagar with the assistance of JAICA. Measures were initiated to avoid flow
of industrial affluents in the first phase. Treatments Plants are being
constructed to avoid flow of industrial affluents from Kukatpally Naala
and Picket Naala. It is expected to complete the treatment plants by
January, 2011. The treated water will be utilised for various commercial
purposes and in a phased manner. The treated water can also be utilised
for drinking purpose. Besides treating the Hussain Sagar waters, greenery
would also be developed in the vicinity.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to speed up the works of internal
ramps of PVNR Express Highway before October end by overcoming the posing
problems. The flyover at Hitec City would also be completed by September
30. Certain problems in construction of Rs.99.08 crore ROB at Kukatpally
would be resolved at a meeting of Railway Board officers. Proposals are
ready for construction of bus terminal with one stop shop facilities at
Miyapur. Besides facility for parking main buses, facilities like
accommodation, budget hotels, rest rooms for drivers etc., would also be
provided in the terminal.
A decision was also taken to take up construction of a Logistic Park in an
area of 40 acres at Baatasingaram for parking of trucks. It is expected to
complete it in two years. Another such Park would be constructed in 20
acres at Mangalpally on Sagar Highway. The bridge at Bapughat is also in
the completion stage, the officials said.
