Hyderabad|India|August'2009: HYSEA (Hyderabad Software Exporters Association) organized an extensive Tree Plantation drive at HITEC City on 24th of August. The drive was an effort to reaffirm the commitment of the IT Fraternity to help stop global warming by reducing greenhouse gases and improve human health by improving air quality. HYSEA will be organizing the second round of plantation drive next week on 29th August near Gachibowli area.

The Chief Guest Mr. Pardhasaradhi Rao, Advisor in the role of Chief Engineer, APIIC commended the effort of the Association in taking up this important environmental issue and was happy to have APIIC facilitate this by providing suitable area in HITEC City for this purpose. Mr. Rao remarked that the country is already facing the consequences of deforestation in the form of droughts and sinking ground water levels; initiatives like these play a crucial role in arresting the same. Further appreciating the initiative, APIIC donated Rs.2.5 lakh to support the cause.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Narsimha Rao, President, HYSEA said, “We are all personally responsible for releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels for transportation and energy requirements, leading to global warming. Tree plantation drive was a small yet significant effort by member companies to help reduce further degradation of the Earth’s ecosystem”.

Earlier in a message on the occasion Mr. P. Raghuveer Reddy, IFS,Chief Conservator of Forests, AP, appreciated the effort of the Association in the Tree Plantation drive and assured continued support from the Forest Department for such plantation drives.
