Indian Air Force celebrate 79th Anniversary

To commemorate 79th
Anniversary of Indian Air Force, a get together was organised by the
College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad, which offered an opportunity to
retired Air Warriors to share their glorious past with the present serving
officers. Air Vice Marshal DP Upot, Commandant of College of Air Warfare
welcomed all the distinguished guests. College of Air Warfare, a premier
Institution provides training to officers of the all the three Defence
service and friendly foreign countries. IAF has always come out with
flying colours and lives up to its motto ‘Touching the Sky with Glory’.
Indian Air Force, one of the most modern and sophisticated forces and
fourth largest Air Force in the world have come into existence on 8th Oct
1932 and traversed through eventful and glorious 79 years which earned its
place as one of the most professional and competent force. The IAF had
played pivotal roles during Indo-Chinese War in 1961, Indo-Pak Wars in
1965 and 1971 and Kargil Conflict in 1999. The hallmark of this
professionalism has also been the invaluable aid given in peace time by
providing relief and succor during natural calamities faced by the
country. The IAF has also extended assistance to the Para-military forces
in anti-terrorist operations. The IAF fleet has carved a niche by
undertaking invaluable air support services on numerous occasions
including providing relief to neighboring states.
