41st Regional Conference of SIRC of ICAI to be held at HICC Hyderabad

’Jnana Yajna’ to Highlight Convergence to IFRS,eXtensible Business Reporting Language &
Evolving Issues in Non Resident Taxation.

The 41st Regional Conference of SIRC of ICAI titled ‘Jnana Yajna’ will be held at HICC Hyderabad. Over 5000 practicing Chartered Accountants is expected to attend the two day event on August 29 and 30.

The event set to begin on August 29, will be inaugurated by Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and CA. Uttam Prakash Agarwal, President – ICAI will deliver the presidential address on the opening day.                                                                

Making the announcement CA M Devaraja Reddy, Chairman, SIRC of ICAI said, “Jnana Yajna is aimed to provide an essential benefit, both for Institute, its members and for all other practicing CA’s throughout the country,” It gives us an opportunity to share best practices, resources and the knowledge amongst members to improve and deliver finer corporate governance methodologies.” The Conference is a confluence of: SAKALA, SAHRIDAYA & SAMAVAADAM (With one’s faculties, with a resonant heart and with a meeting of thought). 

The two day event will highlight a range of topics including a spiritual session by Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami.  

On day 1 the spotlight will be on: 

  • “Convergence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs), by CA P.R. Ramesh, Hyderabad .
  • ‘Deliberations on the Forensic Accounting & Fraud Detection- by CA Chetan D. Dalal, Mumbai.
  • The Evolving Issues in Non Resident Taxation is a topic of intense debate and will be a nucleus of the event, anchored by CA P.V.S.S. Prasad, Hyderabad .
  • The fastest growing tax kitty has provided with a host of Current Issues in Service Tax which will be analysed in his humorous style by CA A.R. Krishnan, Mumbai
  • Spiritual Session by Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami

 On Day 2 the spotlight will be on:

  • An insight into the New Formulae of Business deductions - CA Padamchand Khincha, Bangalore will lead the discussion.
  • The move towards technology based upgradation of the entire system and its Uses & Advantages of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), by CA K. Srinivasan, Trichy.
  • The Way forward towards Corporate Governance, by CA T.N. Manoharan.
  • The unending debates on the treatment of Accural Concepts in Tax Laws versus Accounting Standards, an acceptable dispute resolution mechanism to deal with the requirement of two different laws with different treatment will be highlighted by CA R Bupathy, Chennai.

The Conference will also feature a cultural evening with host of exciting events on 29th August 2009 evening for ICAI members and their families. 

CA K Rahman Khan, M.P, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, will be the chief guest for the Valedictory session. The Valedictory address will be made by CA. Amarjit Chopra, Vice-President –ICAI.
