Hyderabad|India|April'2009:
Institute of Clinical Research (India), the country’s premier Clinical
Research Institute that operates from campuses at Hyderabad, Mumbai,
Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bangalore and dedicated to promote ethical research
and high-quality Clinical Research education, have announced in a press
release to have wrapped up placements with secure jobs for the entire
batch passing out this year. The students have been placed in leading
Multinational and Fortune 500 companies.
Almost 202 companies like Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi, Quintiles, MSD, Merck,
IRL, CCBR, TCS, ICRI Global Research and other multinational companies as
well as Indian companies recruited 3500 students from ICRI. A large number
of students have been placed in UK, Singapore and other locations abroad.
In India students with M.Sc degrees have been placed at a starting salary
between 30,000– 60,000 pm and the part time PG Diploma students have
started with a salary between 15,000-30,000 pm. Students placed in UK and
Singapore are drawing a salary of 21 Lac per annum.
According to Dr. S. K. Gupta, Dean & Director General, Institute of
Clinical Research (India), "This year again placements have gone well and
the students have been placed before the course is complete. Over 22
students have been placed in the DCGI’s office. Also 2 of the senior
students who had passed out 3 years ago have taken the position of
Assistant Professors in Niper the leading pharma training institute,
Government of India to teach clinical research to the students in
Hyderabad".
"India has all the competitive advantages for conducting clinical trials.
As the country is increasingly becoming a favored destination for clinical
trials, a gap analysis needs to be done to scale up all resources for
clinical trials. This scale up is essential for India to cope with the
large global clinical trial projects. ICRI aims to nurture and create an
environment of learning, and implement international standards in the
interests of Clinical Research students. This is to ensure India meets the
global expectations as an emerging Clinical Research destination", said
Mr. S.R. Dugal, Chairman Board of Directors, ICRI.
As an Institute that understands the crucial role of placement in every
student’s life, ICRI strives to provide lifelong placement support to
students. ICRI boasts of a special Pre-placement Preparation Program
designed by the ICRI Placement Division. The program aims to provide
valuable career guidance to students and help them with career
opportunities in the best of organisations, with improved roles and
responsibilities, and world-class remunerations. Writing an effective
resume in compliance with the Clinical Research industry, training on how
to face interview boards, personality development, communication skills
and mock interviews form an integral part of the program. It also grooms
the students by enhancing their analytical acumen, problem-solving skills
and ability to work as a team.
Since Clinical Research is now a global industry serving global
requirements, educational institutions involved with programs in clinical
research need to have a curriculum which match the high standard
requirements of CRO’s worldwide. ICRI has collaborated with Cranfield
University, U.K., – Europe’s academic centre for strategic and applied
research. This partnership marked the beginning of ICRI’s endeavour to
give a global magnitude to Clinical Research learning in India and
reinforce commitment towards academic credentials which has yielded
results.
