IIT JEE: 7 in top Ten from AP
Hyderabad|India|May'2010: The Chief Minister Dr K Rosaiah
wholeheartedly congratulated the IIT top rankers from Andhra Pradesh who
performed excellently in the All India IIT-JEE examinations, the results
of which were announced today. He said they have done not only proud for
themselves, their parents and family and the institution they studied but
also for Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that the State have been
bagging maximum number of IIT seats as well as top ranks in the All India
IIT-JEE exams.
The Chief Minister, in particular, congratulated Mr Jithender Reddy who
bagged the 1st rank, Uday Saha--2nd, Madhu Kiron--4th, Sathwik--6th,
Sabreesh Nikil--8th, Neeraj Gopal--9th ranks in the open category. He
hailed the record achievement of all of these students including Praveen
Kumar who bagged the 1st rank in the physically handicapped category. The
Chief Minister congratulated all the institutions which coached these
students, the teachers who taught and guided them and the parents who were
the inspiration for the meritorious students to achieve these top ranks.
Dr Rosaiah while wishing the students all the best and hoped that they
would bring more laurels in the days to come.
Dr Rosaiah said this is the first time Andhra Pradesh got the first rank
in IIT-JEE in 20 years.
The Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh today is in the forefront of
higher education and the State has the maximum number of Engineering,
Medical and other Professional Colleges. Dr Rosaiah said the State
produces the maximum number of Engineers, doctors and other professionals
every year. He also said the Jawahar Knowledge Centres( JKCs) launched in
every degree college now coaches the students for jobs while they are in
the final year. The JKCs gives special training to the students in English
language speaking and communication skills etc.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the Osmania University for bagging
the 10th rank among all Indian Universities for maintaining reputation,
quality of academic inputs and quality of faculty. He also hailed the
Andhra University for being ranked 11th and the University of Hyderabad
for being ranked 7th among the Indian Universities. This shows the high
reputation these Universities have in the country. He asked these
Universities to achieve more laurels in the days to come.
Stating that Andhra Pradesh gives utmost importance to higher education,
Dr Rosaiah said that even the poorest of the poor are given chance to
learn engineering, medical and other professional courses and the
government has been reimbursing their tuition fees. The Chief Minister,
meanwhile, appreciated the performance of the students in the SSC and
Intermediate examinations where the pass percentage have increased
compared to previous years.
