Hyderabad/South Africa/May'2009: Deccan Chargers scripted a
fantastic victory over Bangalore to lift the IPL trophy at Johannesburg.
Bangalore Challengers won the toss & elected to field and Deccan chargers put up 143/6
in 20 overs with Gibbs scoring unbeaten 53 runs.
For Royal
challengers it was Anil Kumble who gave a splendid spell with 4 wickets in
4 overs and giving away just 16 runs.At that stage the score seemed
just not enough for Deccan chargers and Royal Challengers were quite upbeat
for a easy finish but their innings had a different story to tell with
their new found man of the season Manish Pandey dismissed for just 4 runs
and from then onwards wickets fell at regular intervals.
With 45 runs required off 41 balls the road looked easy and
straight for Bangalore Royal Challengers but the Bowling department of
Chargers ensured that it was not that easy for
Royal Challengers. Full credit to Harmeet
Singh for picking two crucial wickets and holding on to an excellent catch
under pressure.
Bangalore looked comfortable on 99/4 with Taylor and
Kohli in the middle. But they both got out on consecutive deliveries in an
Andrew Symonds over which changed the course of the match . Mark Boucher
and Pravin Kumar got out, failed to get going under the pressure that was
created.
In the final over
it was left to Robin Uttappa to pull it off but it
turned out to be a damp squab for Royal Challengers and RP Singh bowling a
good last
over.
From almost the bottom of the table last time to lift the cup this season has indeed
been a remarkable achievement for Deccan Chargers.
Australians seems to have a fantastic time
at the IPL.It was Shane Warne who captained the
Rajasthan Royals to lift last years championship and this time its Adam
Gilchrist who has scripted the championship for Deccan chargers. Kudos to
Gilly.Champions never retire!
The whole city of Hyderabad is upbeat with the victory
of Deccan chargers and is looking forward to see its champs in city.
Crackers have been quite loud all over the City inspite of the showers in
city.For the city of Hyderabad celebrations are
