Hyderabad|India|November'2010: To raise awareness of diabetes in India and encourage an increase in education and advocacy, the global healthcare company, Abbott, will be sponsoring a country-wide educational program, called "India Diabetes Week" that will commence on the 14th of November, during World Diabetes Day.

World Diabetes Day is a global campaign developed by The International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization that is internationally recognized each year.

During India Diabetes Week, 14th-20th November, 2010, free educational sessions on diabetes management, including blood glucose testing, diet and exercise, will be offered in cities across India. Complimentary diabetes screenings will also be offered.

Local healthcare professionals, diabetes experts and pharmacists will raise awareness of proper diabetes education and management.

India has the highest population of people living with diabetes in the world, with more than 50 million people in the country suffering from the disease.

India Diabetes Week will take place in more than 25 cities across India.
