Innova Hospital to Host Fourth ‘Innova-Stanford Conclave 2011’

Hyderabad|India|July'2011: Innova Children’s Heart Hospital, the first of its kind in the country to have an exclusive pediatric cardiac centre, is organizing the fourth Innova-Stanford Conclave 2011 on 1st July 2011 at the hospital in Tarnaka, Secunderabad. This Conclave is aimed at ‘State of the Art in Comprehensive Management of Heart Defects in Neonates’ in which a fourteen member team from Stanford University is participating along with team from Innova Hospital led by Dr K S Murthy. This scientific program is conducted on the occasion of fourth anniversary celebrations of the hospital. The conclave is sponsored by Children’s HeartLink, a philanthropic organization from USA. The scientific sessions will be inaugurated by Ms. Katherine Dhanani, U.S. Consul General at Hyderabad.

The aim of the conclave is to discuss neonatal care which is very important in the management of heart diseases in children. It requires dedicated care with special understanding of the neonatal physiology apart from heart disease. One third of the children with congenital heart disease require early treatment such as surgery or catheter intervention to save them from fatal outcome.

The scientific sessions will feature global thinkers engaged in research and practice in different areas like pediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery, intensive care, perfusion and nursing. Some of the renowned thinkers from Stanford University will include Dr. V. Mohan Reddy, Chief Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Stanton Bruce Perry, Director of Pediatric Cath Lab and interventional pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Inger Olson, Pediatric Cardiologist, Prof. K. G. Belani and Mr. Pat McCarthy, Perfusionist.

The Innova team participating in the conclave will include Dr K S Murthy, Chief Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon and Chairman and Managing Director, Innova Hospital, Prof I M Rao, Dean, Academics and Research, Dr. K. The conclave will elaborately explore the topics like ‘Prenatal & Early Neonatal diagnosis – Impact on outcomes’, Can aggressive neonatal interventions modify the surgical indications?, “Congenital Heart Surgery - Past, Present & Future” .
