Hyderabad|India|June'2009: Professor Kalidas Sen, Senior faculty in the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad has been awarded the ‘India-US Professorship in Physics’ for the year 2009, by the prestigious American Institute of Physics (APS) and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSTF).

This award carries a grant of US $ 4000. As part of this honour, he will deliver lectures at the Department of Physics, Brooklyn College and City University of New York.

Prof. Kalidas Sen Joined the University of Hyderabad in July, 1977 after completing his Ph.D. degree at IIT - Kanpur. His research interests include density functional theory, confined electronic systems and information theoretical measures of uncertainty and complexity. Dr. Sen has published original research papers in these areas with collaborators from Japan, US, Russia, UK, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, Spain and Chile. He has published six books and more than 170 research papers in renowned international journals.
