Langer Houz Flyover inaugurated
Hyderabad|India|March'2010:The State Government is determined to
develop the city of Hyderabad on par with international cities in all
respects with state of the art infrastructure facilities as well as
citizen services. As part of this development plan, the Chief Minister
Dr.K.Rosaiah inauguratedthe Langer Houz Flyover as well as launch the
works of Nehru Outer Ring Road (Phase-II).
Langer Houz Flyover is an important junction in Hyderabad connecting the
historical roads leading to Golconda, Gandipet, Moinabad and Chevella. The
HMDA has taken up the construction of this flyover at an estimated cost of
Rs.17 crore the foundation stone of which was laid by the Late Chief
Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy on 1st January, 2007 and the works
commenced on 23rd January 2007. The total length of the Flyover is 750 Mts
with 4-lane divided carriage way and its width is 15 Mts.
The ORR Phase-II works covering 33.3 Km long stretch from Shamirpet to
Peda Amberpet is being taken up with the loan assistance of Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) duly dividing into 3 civil work
contract packages the contracts have been awarded by the Government
through International Competitive Bidding route.
Package 1-Shamirpet to Keesara (10.3 Km) by M/S United Gulf Constructions
Co., W.L.L., Kuwait at a contract price of Rs.195,08,54,571 with in a
period of 30 months.Package 2- Keesara to Ghatkesar (11 Km) by M/S
Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd. contract price is Rs.347,83,92,840 and
the completion period is 30 months.Package 3- Ghatkesar to Pedda Amberpet
(12 Km) by M/S Nagarjuna Construction Company ltd. Contract price is
Rs.299,51,34,429 and the completion period is 30 months.
M/S NIPPON KOEI Co. Ltd. Japan in Joint Venture with Aarvee Associates
Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd., India are the consultants
for the project and the cost of consultancy is Rs.39,38,35,987.
The Salient features of the ORR are:8-Lane access controlled expressway
with Right of way of 150 m and design speed is 120 Kmph. There will be 2-
Lane service roads on either side with footpaths. Access to ORR Main
Carriageway is only through Interchanges at Keesara and Ghatkesar.
Provision is made for 25m wide corridor for future MRTS/BRTS. State of art
Intelligent Transport System is being implemented. Traffic features like
Retro-reflective signages, Metal beam crash barriers, Thermo-plastic lane
marking etc. are being provided. Signal-free movement and no
criss-crossing of vehicles on ORR with utility corridor provided on either
side. Provision for vehicle, pedestrian and animal underpasses is also
made. With the completion of the ORR Phase-II, it opens up new areas and
provides connectivity to Genome Valley, Biotech Knowledge Corridor and
other important landmark establishments in the city. These works are
targeted for completion by December, 2012.
