Hyderabad|India|April'2009: Lufthansa Cargo, a unit of
Lufthansa German Airlines, launched a cargo freighter flight to Rajiv
Gandhi International Airport from 7th April, 2009.
The weekly Lufthansa cargo flight LH8415 reaches RGIA at
02.25 hours every Tuesday (Frankfurt – Mumbai – Hyderabad) and leaves on
the same day (Tuesday) from RGIA at 04.50 hours (Hyderabad – Sharjah –
Frankfurt). The weekly Lufthansa cargo flight is the first to offer a
freighter service to the south Indian metropolis.
Speaking on the occassion Mr. P.S. Nair, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International
Airport Ltd (GHIAL), “being at the geographical centre of India, Hyderabad
offers a great advantage for logistics movements of cargo both within
India and connecting South East Asia and Middle East, Europe and USA“.

Lufthansa Cargo. “With the new connections we can offer our customers very
special routings to other fast growing markets.”
“The Air Cargo Complex at the RGIA currently has a capacity to handle
100,000 tonnes per annum of cargo. The ultimate cargo handling capacity
will be 1.3 million tonnes per annum. The RGIA has dedicated cargo apron
facilities both for handling regular and freighter operations with four
code ‘C’ freighter aircraft. The RGIA, Hyderabad, is centrally located
with two hours’ flying time from all major cities in India and 3 - 5
hours’ from all South -East Asian countries“, said Mr. A. Viswanath, Chief
