'MURAQQA-E-CHUGHTAI': A beautiful combination of words & pictures, says Vice President

Hyderabad|India|August'2009: The Vice President of India, Shri Mohd. Hamid Ansari has said that when words, verses and pictures are combined an unique and unforgettable art work is created. He said that converting verses into pictures is like capturing imagination of the poet. Shri Hamid Ansari released the reprint of the book ‘Muraqqa-e-Chugtai’ in city on 1st Aug. He said that the great artist Abdul Rehman Chugtai has selected those chapters from Ghalib’s poetry which bear picturesque value. His expertise reaches its peak when he designs verses which have imaginative imprints. True to his words Abdul Rehman Chugtai made this impossible task a possible one.

Shri Hamid Ansari felt happiness that he is being invited for release of reprint of this book in a city wherein the original work had actually started with the encouragement of the then Nizam of Hyderabad in 1928. The Vice President congratulated the Andhra Pradesh Urdu Academy which rightly felt importance of this masterpiece artwork and reprinted it. The Vice President hoped that the AP Urdu Academy with the cooperation of the AP State Government would continue its good work.

The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N.D. Tiwari in his address said that the inspired art of Chugtai has added further richness and beauty to Ghalib’s poetry and it is a happy marriage of harmony in colour with the lyrical muse.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr.Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy said that the Government of AP is taking special measures in promoting Urdu as a language. He said that the 220 crore worth scholarships and fee reimbursement schemes to the minorities is highest in the country benefiting about 7,70,000 minority students, 40% of whom are pursuing studies in Urdu.

Shri Mohammeda Ahamadullah, Minister for Minorities Welfare, Shri Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Former Minister, Shri Anjan Kumar Yadav, Member of Parliament, Shri Raheemuddin Ansari, President Urdu Academy also participated.
