Makhteshim-Agan,India launched in AP

ISRAELI TECHNOLOGY AT FARMERS’ DOOR STEP

Hyderabad|India|July'2009: An Agricultural initiative from World leaders in farm technology, Makhteshim-Agan, Israel which is the world’s leader in Crop Protection products has formally launched its activities in Hyderabad in the presence of Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy at Secretariat on 13th July. It’s corporate headquarters is located in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The company is unrivaled for its diverse offering of advanced, environmentally friendly products having established itself as the industry’s most reliable one-stop vendor of comprehensive, crop specific products for all major crops. The extensive product portfolio includes a full complement of herbicides, insecticides and fungicides for virtually every conventional crop and non-crop category.

Speaking to the media persons present on the occasion, the Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy said that the company has already started their distribution center at Hyderabad and sooner they will be coming out with production lines and research facility in pesticides here. Makhteshim-Agan India offers the largest variety of proven branded crop protection products available in the global market. The Company is ranked Number Four in Europe. He thanked the Ambassador of Israel at Delhi, H.E., Mr.Mark Sofer for his proactiveness in supporting Andhra Pradesh. He recalled that only last week, the Ambassador has sent another Israel company called ELBIT which is in the process of establishing a Dairy with 10,000 milch cows at Palamaner in Chittoor district besides a research facility as part of its Dairy facility at Pulivendula in Kadapa district.

The Chairman& CEO of Makhteshim-Agan India, Mr.Musa Givon announced starting of their operations in Hyderabad with 250 staff initially and some of them are employed through out India. Stating that their’s is a part of Israel’s largest Holding company by name IDB and found that Hyderabad is the best place to set up their hub. The CEO thanked the state Government for the cooperation and assistance. “Ours is the 7th largest company in the world and want to replicate our experiences in the world and to do the best in India not only in sales but our future plans here are to look at the possibility of building up a research center in Hyderabad and later look at industrial capacity building here in the state”, he said. “At this stage, from India itself, we will bring in technical raw material and formulate it here and package it and sell it, mainly environmental-friendly pesticides used for plant protection”, he added.

The President of its Indian Company (Makhteshim-Agan India), Mr.Josef (Yossi) Goldshmidt said that their intention is to go very close to the farmers up to the field level.

The Ambassador of Israel, H.E., Mr.Mark Sofer thanked the Chief Minister and his officials for their cooperation in setting up their facility at Hyderabad. He said that he is over joyed with this process, in which, Israel and Andhra Pradesh are moving into a new era of relationship which is part and parcel of wider relationship with India.

The Chief Minister released the Logo of Makhteshim Agan India on the occasion.

The visiting team consists of H.E., Mr.Mark Sofer, Ambassador of Israel; Chairman & CEO of Makhteshim-Agan India, Mr.Musa Givon and the President of its Indian company, Mr.Josef (Yossi) Goldshmidt.
