I Phase of NTPC-BHEL
Project to be completed by 2011-12
Hyderabad|India|September'2009: “It is simply your personal
achievement sir. There were many States who wanted this prestigious
project to be located in their State. However your continued persuasion
and firm determination enabled Andhra Pradesh bag this gigantic project
which will ensure direct employment to 6,000 people and indirect
employment to 25,000 people, said Mr C.P. Singh, Chairman and Managing
Director of NTPC-BHEL Joint Venture Power Projects.
Mr C.P. Singh met the Chief Minister recently at the Assembly premises to
discuss the arrangements being made on the occasion of laying foundation
stone for the NTPC-BHEL Project at Mannavaram village of Srikalahasti
Mandal in Chittoor District. The Prime Minister who arrives in Tirupati on
the 5th of September will lay the foundation stone on the 6th of
September.
Mr Singh said it is because of the relentless efforts of Chief Minister Dr
Rajasekhara Redy that the Government of India decided to establish the
Project at Mannavaram. “No Chief Minister ever made such concerted
efforts. It is not only a prestigious project for Andhra Pradesh but will
grow into a gigantic pride project of the Nation. I wholeheartedly
appreciate your relentless efforts and dedication in achieving the
project. Your fighting spirit in achieving the project amidst keen
competition is incredible sir”, Mr Singh told the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister meanwhile asked the State Government officials to lay a
4-lane road at Mannavaram and connect it to the nearest National Highway
so that heavy trucks with machinery and equipments etc. coming in and
going out of the project could move comfortably. Dr Reddy asked the
NTPC-BHEL Power Project chief to complete the First Phase of the Project
by 2011-2012 and the Second Phase by 2013-14 working on a mission-mode.
Mr Singh told the Chief Minister that the new NTPC-BHEL Joint Venture
Power Project is much bigger than the 3-decade old BHEL’s Ramachandrapuram
unit which has only 200 ancillaries and an employment of 5,500. The new
Project will enable setting up of more than 400 ancillary units giving big
boost to the industrialization providing huge employment opportunities in
the region. Mr Singh said in his long service he never came across such a
head of State or politician who constantly persuaded the Government of
India and others concerned to get the Project located in his State.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister assured all support and help for the
completion and commissioning of the project right on schedule.
