(Home) inaugurates the first contact class for the PG Diploma in Criminal
Justice & Forensic Science at UoH

Hyderabad|India|December'2009: The first contact class for the PG
Diploma in Criminal Justice & Forensic Science under the distance
education mode was inaugurated at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on 1st
December. Shri. P Gautham Kumar, IPS and Principal Secretary (Home), Govt.
Of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the contact programme. About 60 students
have enrolled in this PG Diploma programme. This programme is being
offered in collaboration with Truth Labs based in Hyderabad.
Dr. Geelani, Director, Centre for Distance Education at UoH welcomed the
dignitaries and gave a brief about the activities and courses being
offered at the centre.
Dr. P C K Gandhi, Chairman, Truth Labs gave an overview of the Diploma
programme. He spoke about the efforts that have gone in designing this
programme and the need of conducting such programmes for the police,
prosecutors and the judges.
Shri. Gautham Kumar in his inaugural address said that the purpose of
Criminal Justice system must be to protect the interests of the 95% of law
abiding citizens of our country. The importance of Criminal Justice is
increasing day by day; hence such a course would serve the larger
interests of the society.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Seyed E Hasnain presided over the programme. In
his presidential address Prof. Hasnain lauded the efforts of Dr. P C K
Gandhi for initiating this particular diploma programme along with the
Distance Education Centre at the University of Hyderabad.
Prof. I. Ramabrahmam, Head, Department of Political Science and associate
coordinator for the PG Diploma in Criminal Justice & Forensic Science
course proposed the Vote of Thanks.
