Hyderabad|India|August'2009: AWhile expressing their gratitude over the release of postal stamp on the eve of the 132th birth anniversary of Pingali Venkaiah, the Pingali Venkaiah Smaraka Samstha & Charitable Trust demanded the national government to honor the leader with “Bharata Ratna”,
posthumously.

Speaking to media persons, herein city, Ms K H S Jagadamba, the founder president said that awarding the freedom fighter, who designed the national flag would be proud honour for the whole nation. Mr.Pingali believed in the Gandhian principles of ‘simple living and high thinking’, she added.

It is very pathetic that in the Independent India, a democratic nation and the country which is committed for the well being of its people, has ignored the very designer, she lamented. “The demand for Bharata Ratna was an effort to re-define and re-establish the image of the great patriot.” the president of the trust said.
