Workshop on Public Speaking for Corporate

worldHyderabad|India|February'2010: In business or personal
life, people form a perception about how competent you are and how you
present yourself when you stand and speak. They also form perceptions
about the company you represent based on your performance. In fact, public
speaking is an easy way to set yourself apart from your competition. A
person who is confident in front of a group gives off an air of
competence, whereas a person who fumbles might leave a negative
impression.
Many business executives lose corporate battles, sales, career growth for
lack of speaking skills. While proper public speaking skills are essential
to any people-contact position in business, most often they neglect this
area of skill. In order to offer this most sought after skill to corporate
executives, city based MediaJunction has been running Fourday Workshop on
Effective Public Speaking.
According to Kalpana, Director of Media Junction, a fresh batch of
workshop which 117th in the series is slated to be kicked off on 25th to
28th February for four days. The subject enthusiast D.Ramchadram, a Media

As an executive in a corporate world one is confronted with many
challenges such as leading a team, to make effective presentation to a
poltential customer, collaborator, address investors, vendors, staff. But,
nut many are equipped to handle such situations. And escape from such
tasks and loose out on carrer growth opprotunities.
Speaking in public terrifies a lot of people. It is a universal problem.
Four out of ten people have fear of speaking in public. Public Speaking is
rated as a fear number 1. It rated more fearful than death and nuclear
disaster.
It is quite common to have phobias. It is estimated that on an average 1
out of 20 Indians suffer with some or the other phobias. About 3% of
people said to have some phobias at any given point of time. Fear of
public speaking is a social phobia.
Public Speaking as a curriculum is the most neglected subjects in most of
the Indian educational institutions. Mostly this skills is left to
students to learn on their own. See for instance Dale Carnegie started
teaching public speaking in America in as early as 1908. Toastmasters
International started a forum for practicing public speaking in 1924. But,
we dont find many in India. Media Junciton is the only insitute that has
been conducting workshops on Public Speaking every month for the past five
years.
