Hyderabad|India|September'2009: Young Arshdeep Tiwana, ranked third
in the Indian Amateur golf rankings, emerged winner in
Boulder Hills Golf Club’s Intra-Club round of the Signature Club
Golf Championships 2009, played in the new nine-hole PowerPlay Golf format
at the Boulder Hills Golf Club at Hyderabad.
Playing in the 0-8 handicap category, Tiwana tallied 6 points and
was followed by Ramana Reddy in second place with 16 points.
Arshdeep, played a total of four PowerPlays, sinking two birdies and
tackling three holes at par. A total of 75 golfers participated in
the event to pick the six-member team, which will tee off against
the team from Bison Environmental Park and Training Area Golf Club,
besides seven other clubs from the south at the Karnataka Golf
Association Club on October 12. The Southern zome champion will then
tee off against champion clubs from other three zones in the
all-India finals at Phuket, Thailand. More than 7000 golfers,
representing 43
golf clubs across 30 cities will participated in these
championships to pick the champion golf club of India.
K K Gossain won the 0-8 handicap category in the same event played
at the Bison Environmental Park and Training Area Golf Club to pick
their team. Gossain totalled 13 points and was followed by Ravinder
Singh with 10 points. Ravinder was tied with S Reddy but got through
on the account of the last-hole par he scored.
There was also a tie for the top spot in the 9-16 handicap category,
with Brig S B Khanna and
Dinesh Kumar scoring
23 points, but Khanna went ahead on the last hole score, which he
parred, while Kumar got a bogey.
