UK delegation in City for investments in AP
Hyderabad|India|June'2010: United Kingdom (U.K.) could be a partner
in the forthcoming Global Investors Summit in November next. A High level
UK delegation assured the Chief Minister to look into this proposal.
British High Commissioner Sir Richard Stagg, British Deputy High
Commissioner, Southern India, Mr Mike Nithavrianakis and delegation called
on Chief Minister Dr K Rosaiah in Secretariat. The delegation told the
Chief Minister that they are looking at investments in Andhra Pradesh in
different sectors.
The industrialists from U.K. are particularly interested in investing in
the manufacturing of Aircrafts and Aircraft components. The Chief Minister
said Andhra Pradesh is a pro-active fast expanding State. The State has
the best industrial policy in the country offering the industrialists and
investors maximum incentives. While the overall economic growth in the
State is good, IT/ITES growth has been the best in the recent years.
The British High Commissioner told the Chief Minister that new Government
is also interested in investments in various sectors in the State. The
Chief Minister explained that power tariff in Andhra Pradesh is the lowest
and the State have huge human resources potential. Many industrial giants
have their presence in the State. Hyderabad is considered as the
Pharmaceutical capital of Andhra Pradesh. A Petroleum, Chemicals and
Petrochemicals Investment region is coming up along the coastal corridor
of Visakhapatnam-Kakinada. There is also a Pharma city near Visakhapatnam
now. Andhra Pradesh also have the best airports, the Chief Minister said.
Major Industries Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, Adviser to Govt. of A.P.,
Peter Hassan and other officials attended the meeting.
