America Comes to Tirupati and Vishakhapatnam

Hyderabad|India|September'2009: Staff from the U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad, will travel to Tirupati and Vishakhapatnam to share a slice of American life with the citizens of Andhra Pradesh, September 23 -October 8. The visit celebrates the strong relationship between the people of Andhra Pradesh and the United States with ties based on family, education and work and on a foundation of shared values, common goals, and mutual admiration.

To celebrate and strengthen this significant partnership, staff from the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad will visit South Indian universities, organizations and media outlets in Tirupati and Vishakhapatnam. The Consulate General Hyderabad visitors are part of an all-India tour in which U.S. Embassy and Consulate officials from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai travel to all corners of India.

In Tirupati and Vishakhapatnam, Public Affairs Officer Juliet Wurr and Consular Officers Vice Consuls Greg Rankin and Kalpana Murthy will meet prominent citizens, officials, high school and university students, academics and community members.

They will speak on various topics, including American Women in Politics, U.S. – India Relations, Education in U.S. and, Religious and Ethnic Diversity in the United States.Two documentaries -- The People's President: Man, Myth, and the Media and FLOW: for Love of Water – will also be screened in both the cities.

Consular officers will also address students on issues relating to U.S. visas.
