Hyderabad|India|November'2011: The U.S. Consulate General
Hyderabad organized a charity book fair on November 13, 2011 at Saptaparni,
Banjara Hills as part of a weekend-long children’s book festival featuring
American authors.
“The proceeds from sales at the book fair will go to the Bhubaneswar-based
NGO and children’s library, Bakul Foundation, which has taken up a project
to photocopy school text books lost in floods that have affected the
remotest regions of Odisha,” said Carla Benini, Public Affairs Officer,
U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad. Books were sold at half price so as to
raise enough money for a noble cause. Generous partners in the book fair
include Odyssey, Landmark, Walden, Akshara Book Store, Arvind Kumar
Publishers and Scholastic.
The charity book fair was inaugurated by Mr. Arvind Kumar, founder of
Scholastic India and a passionate advocate of creating learning and
reading opportunities for the unprivileged children in rural India.
The book fair will also be open on November 14, 2011.
“Read with U.S. Children’s Book Fest” promotes American literature and

Kaleidoscope in Gachibowli and Treasure House in Jubilee Hills – to host
weekend full of activities for children aimed at encouraging reading for
fun and inspiring a life-long passion for learning.
