Hyderabad|India|August'2009: A week long Professional Development Programme (PDP) was organised by the University of Hyderabad (UoH) Academic Staff College (ASC) from 27 July to 1 August 2009. It is one of its kind of programme being organised by the ASC at UoH. The programme was attended by Directors of Academic Staff Colleges from other Universities, Professors, Academic Administrators and Senior Officers from Universities and colleges all over India. In all 35 participants attended this programme. The programme was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, UoH, Professor Seyed E Hasnain. Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Hasnain asked the participants to utilise and practice the topics being taught in this programme for improving Leadership Qualities, the quality of teaching & Research and bring in reforms in the Higher Education.

The week long programme consisted of topics on Leadership Challenges; Emotional Intelligence; E-Learning: Content Development and Management; Higher Education: Crossing the Borders; E-Content, Resources; Effective Team Building; Basics of Information Systems-issues & e-Governance in Universities-Sustainability; Personality Development, Soft Skills - resources; Enhanced Interpersonal Effectiveness; Conflict Management and Change Management in Leadership. Eminent Resource persons like Prof. Vikramaditya Duggal (ASCI); Prof J B Tilak (NEUPA); Mr. Nageshwarnath (CEC); Dr. B Raja Shekar (UoH); Prof S Kazim Naqvi (Jamia Millia Islamia); Mr. Sri Nagesh (Infosys); Prof. Ravi Chandra and Dr. Manikandan (NAARM) shared their experiences with the participants on the various topics. A Panel Discussion on Reforms in Higher Education was also held during this week long PDP. The panel comprising of Prof. RVR Chandrashekar Rao, Prof. V Ramakrishna, Prof. K Nageshwar, Prof I Ramabrahmam and Prof. Manohar Rao debated the Yashpal Committee report on Higher Education and spoke of its pros and cons.

The valedictory function was held on 1 August 2009 chaired by Prof. V Kannan, Pro Vice Chancellor, UoH. Prof Y Narasimhulu, Director, Academic Staff College, UoH coordinated this programme.
