Hyderabad|India|February'2009:
iDiscoveri, a social enterprise with a vision to renew education in India,
conducted an interactive seminar titled ‘Making your Good School Great’ in
their XSEED Learning Centre in Jubilee Hills. iDiscoveri’s spokespersons
present at the seminar, shared their experiences on the successful
implementation of ‘XSEED’ program across Andhra Pradesh and other parts of
the country. The audience, comprising of School Correspondents and
Principals from across Andhra Pradesh, lauded the efforts of iDiscoveri in
‘improving classroom practices and learning abilities in children’.
The seminar was spearheaded by scholars and educationists with a track
record of proven successes in improving the quality of education in India
and abroad. The audience gained insights into new methods of teaching and
learning in schools. With the aid of presentations, activities and video
demos, the facilitators demonstrated practical alternatives to improve
classroom practices. Participants were inspired about the possibility of
how every ‘good school could be transformed into a great academic
institution’.
The XSEED program from iDiscoveri is a revolutionary way of teaching that
builds strong fundamentals in children at the primary school level.
Detailed, comprehensive lesson plans for each subject are supported with
training for the teacher by skilled, world class facilitators. The
students are also provided with assessment workbooks linked to the
curriculum material. All lesson plans and teacher training programs focus
on 'learning by doing' by children.
Mr. Himanshu Joshi, Education officer (Andhra Pradesh), iDiscoveri who
interacted directly with the School Correspondents and Principals, said,
“The purpose of school education is to give all children the confidence to
learn. That is where XSEED comes in to the picture. XSEED makes it
possible for each teacher to use innovative techniques in classroom,
building a stronger foundation, achieving a better grasp of concepts by
the children.”
“We are encouraged by the response received for XSEED in Andhra Pradesh.
The interest and initiative shown by educationists and school owners in
Andhra Pradesh, has prompted us to chart aggressive expansion plans;
seeking deeper penetration into schools in the state”, Himanshu added.
Mr. Shiladitya Ghosh, Curriculum Team Leader, iDiscoveri, said, “We work
closely with schools and help them in implementing XSEED. The curriculum
manuals for teachers and the workbooks and assessment tools for children,
ensure that the entire vision and philosophy of the program is actually
implemented. The instructional leadership program helps build capacity and
leadership in the school to take XSEED initiatives forward. The program
has seen phenomenal success in reaching out to the so called average
students.”
The Seminar aimed at spreading awareness about the need for experiential
learning. XSEED as a tool develops new skills and brings about uniformity
and consistency in teaching that empowers schools, teachers, parents and
students. The seminar educated academicians on how to gain accurate and
practical knowledge to improve classroom practices. XSEED program’s
adaptability to various academic systems and syllabi like ICSE, CBSE and
other International affiliations, was also elaborated upon.
