CM conducts aerial survey of Sripada Yellampally

Reddy conducted an extensive aerial survey of the Sripada
Yellampally Project, one of the main irrigation sources of Telangana
region while returning from Arjunagutta where he launched the
Pranahita Pushkarams.
The Chief Minister had a thorough look where the construction
activity is taking place in the main barrage of the
Sripada-Yellampally Porject. The Chief Minister also enquired from
the Chief Engineer of the Project who travelled along with him about
the progress of the project.
It may be stated here that the Sripada Yellampally Project is to tap
the available yield in Godavari River below the Sri Ram Sagar
Project hitherto untapped. It is proposed for construction of
barrage across river Godavari at Yellampally village, Ramagundam
Mandal of Karimnagar District to store 20.175 TMC of water for
irrigating an ayacut of 2,20,000 acres in Karimnagar district and
stabilisation of 30,000 acre in Adilabad district. This Project is
being taken up with normal state plan funds.
Under Phase I which costs Rs.408.85 crores, works worth Rs.322.24
crores are already done. Under Phase II out of the contract amount
of Rs.98.92 crores, works worth Rs.75.03 crores is completed. Under
the Manthani Lift irrigation scheme where lifting of 2 TMC water and
distributory work for 20,000 acres will be taken up out the contract
amount of Rs.102.07 crores, work worth Rs.44.76 crores is completed.
Under the Stage-II, Phase-I plan is to irrigate 2 lakh acres in
upland areas of Karimnagar district and out of the contract amount
of Rs.1737 crores, works worth Rs.1349 crores is completed. The
Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme envisages lifting of 4.50 TMC
water from river Godavari by providing intake at Kannepally to
irrigate 45,000 acres of ayacut in Mutharam, Malhar Rao, Kataram and
Mahadevpur mandals in Karimnagar district.
The Project is programmed to be completed by 2011-2012.
