'Green drive' against  'Global Warming' by FICCI YFLO

Hyderabad|India|February'2009: Young Ficci Ladies Organization (YFLO)- Hyderabad, has taken up an initiative towards a 'Green drive' against 'Global Warming' by planting 25,000 Trees in the current year. The project inaugurated at SREENIDHI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL by Sri Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Minister for Major Irrigation and Medium Irrigation, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

To start with, YFLO organised tree plantation at Sreenidhi International School, followed by Aziznagar Village Government School and Ambedkar Statue 2 km stretch road from Sreenidhi International School campus to the main road. The school authority has agreed to take care of the trees planted by YFLO at all these venues.

Ms. Kamini Saraf, Chairperson YFLO – Hyderabad said, "We pledged to plant 25,000 trees in the city by next year. To start a drive against Global Warming and educate the next generation about its grave consequences, we will visit a number of schools, show audio visuals to the children and talk to them about the importance of planting trees and reducing Global warming. Also the children along with the school authority will be required to ensure the healthy growth of the plants."

YFLO will visit a number of Government Schools as well as Public Schools in the coming year and educate the children on the importance of a greener environment and the dire effects of Global Warming. We will plant trees in and around the School campus with a promise from the School authority to look after the trees planted by us. We will also ask the School to allot the well being of each tree to one per child. Periodical check by the YFLO members will also ensure the healthy growth and well being of plants.
