India’

Hyderabad|India|October'2009: The ‘Youth Assembly of India’ with an
aim to sensitize youth towards community service and social
entrepreneurship was inaugurated by AP Legislative Assembly Speaker Mr. N.
Kiran Kumar Reddy by lighting the lamp here at Sri Sathya Sai Nigamagamam,
Sri Nagar Colony, Hyderabad today. The two-day assembly is to be
participated by hundreds of youth from various colleges and universities
across India. The assembly is being organized by Abhyasa Residential
Public School along with Passionate, a NGO. The two-day Youth Assembly is
a conglomeration of youngsters who wish to make a difference to their
world, informed
Mr. Vinayak Kalletla, Founder Principal, Abhyasa Residential Public
School, the organizers. The inauguration was graced by Dr. K.S. Ratnakar,
Chairman - Global Medical Education & Research Centre; Mrs. Christine
Lazares, MLA; Mrs. Karuna Gopal, President - Foundation for Futuristic
Cities.
Addressing the gathering Speaker Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy stressed on the
need for education of youth, be it boys or girls. He lamented that
education has become ‘goal-minded’, where parents decide what the child
should become and send for that of kind of education. He asked the youth
to assess themselves and decide what they want to be and put in their full
heart, mind and hardwork in whatever they do.
He also interacted with students and gave answers to questions asked by
students on various topics. He asked, ‘how many would like to join
Politics?’ and on seeing a good number of hands going up he expressed his
happiness. He said that Politics is the only profession where you can
dedicate 100 per cent to the job. People scrutinize the candidates in
politics every five years. No other profession is scrutinized as much as
Politics. He said Politics is not easy, it is most difficult but is a
noble profession.
In his keynote address Dr. K.S. Ratnakar, Chairman - Global Medical
Education & Research Centre gave a call to youth to become humanists,
develop nationality and good character. He spoke about Value Systems,
Education, Attitude and developing individuality. He said that the
greatest wealth is people and asked the gathering of youth not to focus on
money. Education is not for earning money. He asked the youth to used
their education for good deeds.
Several celebrated achievers from the field of administration, sports,
media, entertainment, social activities and social entrepreneurs. They
will be sharing their success stories and initiating panel discussion to
inspire the youth and student participants. Swami Agnivesh, President

of India.
Panel discussions on “Youth Led Transformation or Youth need
Transformation?” and “Youth Involvement - Opportunities and Perspectives”
and other topics will be held during the two days. Youth Projects will be
presented. The projects consist of social service activities taken up by
youth NGOs and students of various colleges and schools across India. At
the end of the two day meet Youth Excellence Awards will be given away for
Outstanding Projects in the “Celebrating Service Contest”. The three most
outstanding three projects will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs
30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. The winners will be selected based on
their projects presentation in the Youth Assembly.
The Youth Assembly is the platform which enables each participants to
explore possibilities to make a difference to the world by being an aware
and active citizen and confronting the challenges of the present.
Community service and social entrepreneurship must be inculcated among the
generation next, said Mr. Vinayak.
