Alcorn State University delegation in City
Hyderabad|India|June'2010: A delegation from Alcorn State
University called on the Chief Minister Dr K Rosaiah at Secretariat. The
delegation consisted of Professors Dr. Dovi Alipoe, Dr Alton Johnson, Dr.
McAFee Dalton, Dr. Samuel White and Dr Ashwini Kumar. They hailed the
rapid strides made by Andhra Pradesh in the field of higher education.
They had a special word of praise for the achievements made by Acharya NG
Ranga Agricultural University, particularly the information dissemination
by the agricultural scientists there.
The Alcorn University was founded in 1871 for the higher education of
African Americans specialises in Agriculture, Research, Extension and
Applied Sciences is in Claiborne County, Mississippi, U.S.A. The
delegation told the Chief Minister that their University specialises in
bridging the gap between the farmer and the consumer and in getting
maximum remunerative prices for the farmers without the exploitation of
the middlemen. Indian Universities could benefit from their experiences.
The Alcorn University also could be benefitted from top Indian
Universities particularly from Andhra Pradesh like ANGRAU, Osmania etc.
The Chief Minister said that Hyderabad is the hub of Higher Education and
the city has the largest number of institutions of excellence and higher
learning like ISB, IIT, IIIT, NALSAR and a number of research
institutions. Dr C. Ravindra Reddy was also present at the meeting.
