Hyderabad|India|December'2009: Hyderabad’s All
Saints High School emerged as the Winner in the Finals of AP Inter City
Science Quiz 2009 for students of Classes 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th held here
at B.M. Birla Science Centre, Hyderabad. Visakha Valley School ,
Visakhapatnam were the Runner-Ups in the fiercely fought science quiz. The
quiz featured interactive rounds judged by scientists and educationists.
Subject areas covered in the quiz included Chemistry, Physics, Biology and
Space Science. Dr. K.S. Srinivas, the Quiz Master conducted the
competition. The Winner and Runner-Up Teams were given away certificates
and awards by Chief Guest Dr. T.P. Radhakrishnan, Professor, School of
Chemistry , University of Hyderabad on Saturday . Speaking on the occasion
Dr. T.P. Radhakrishnan said that taking part in quizzes helps students
improve their learning skills and performance.
The Winning team from All Saints High School comprised of Master A.
Krishna Akhil and Master P. Rohan Naidu. The Runner-up Team from Visakha
Valley School comprised of Master G.V.S. Ravi Teja and Master T. Teja. A
total of 335 Schools participated in the quiz competition this year out of
which two teams from each city i.e. Hyderabad , Tirupati, Visakhapatnam
and Vijayawada made it to the finals. The teams that made it to the finals
are Little Flower High School and All Saints High School, Hyderabad; Sri
Venkateswara Children’s High School and Sri Chaitanya Children Academy
from Tirupati; Nirmala High School S.T.B.E.M. High School from Vijayawada;
and Visakha Junior College and Visakha Vally School from Visakhapatnam.
Organised by the decade old Dr. K.V. Rao Scientific Society which has been
established to preserve basic research and preserving, nurturing
scientific talent in young children and youth, the finals saw two teams
from each city i.e. Hyderabad , Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada
compete with each other in the finals. This is the fourth year of the
Science Quiz, and for the first time it was organised involving four
cities from Andhra Pradesh. The objective of the quiz is to identify and
nurture Scientific Talent among young students both school and university
level informed Ms. K. Ratna, Joint Secretary of Dr. K.V. Rao Scientific
Society, the organisers of the quiz.
