CM requests centre for 'PPE' to Air
Passengers
Hyderabad|India|June'2009:
The Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy requested the Government of
India particularly the Civil Aviation Ministry to arrange Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE) to the air passengers in all the flights
particularly to those who show symptoms, in order to contain spread of
Swine Flu to other passengers. The Chief Minister reiterated that there is
absolutely no need for any panic on H1N1 Influenza A (Swine Flu). He held
an informal review meeting with senior health officials at camp office
today in view of the rumours on the spreading of the flu in the City.
The Chief Minister said that all precautionary measures were taken up and
the administration is fully geared up to prevent any sort of spread of the
viral flu. Strict instructions have been given already at the airports as
well as sea port checking centres in the state that every passenger
arriving from abroad should be thoroughly checked and examined. In case of
any doubt, the co passengers of the suspected passenger are also being
checked again, he said. He also ordered for making additional arrangements
for ‘quarantine’ treatment of the patients if needed at the Government
Chest Hospital, Erragadda.
The Chief Minister directed the Minister for Medical Education,
Mr.Sudarshan Reddy and higher authorities of Medical & Health,
Mr.J.Satyanarayana and Mr.L.V.Subrahmanyam to constantly keep in touch
with the Government of India for better coordination and continuously
monitor the situation on hourly basis. He also directed to ensure
availability of required medicines and round the clock medical attention.
Principal Secretary, Health, Mr.L.V.Subrahmanyam appraised the Chief
Minister that a high level NICD team of Government of India which has
arrived at Hyderabad today has expressed satisfaction about the State
Government’s initiatives in preventing the spread of H1N1 Influenza A in
the State. The team has promised more coordination in picking up samples
and conveying test results quickly.
Mr. Subrahmanyam also appraised the C.M. that he is visiting the Chest
Hospital everyday and closely monitoring the situation. He said that each
and every passenger is being thoroughly checked and only suspected cases
like those having the symptoms of the flu are being referred to the Chest
Hospital at Erragadda besides the one at Vanasthalipuram where all
necessary arrangements have been made to examine and treat the patients.
