& NEDCAP organises 'Industry Interface Meet'

Hyderabad|India|An interactive ‘Industry Interface Meet’
of senior officials of Govt of Andhra Pradesh and Govt of India with the
representatives of renewable energy industry was organized by APInvest, a nodal
investment promotion agency of Govt of Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with Non
Conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NEDCAP) at Hotel
ITC Kakatiya Sheraton, Hyderabad on 28 November 2008 FN.
Mr. Deepak Gupta, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy
Department, Govt of India gave a Key Note address. The meeting was attended by
the senior government officials Dr. CS Rao, Advisor IT & CEO, APInvest, Mr.
Suthirtho Bhattarachya, IAS, Chairman and Managing Director, APGENCO, Mr. MP
Reddy, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Non Conventional Energy Development
Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NEDCAP) and the captains of renewable industry
representing PV Solar, Wind, Mini-Hydel, Bio Mass and Solar Thermal industry.
During his address Mr. Deepak Gupta, IAS, has expressed the urgent need for the
development of renewable industry as an alternative to the conventional power
generation in India.
Dr CS Rao, Advisor IT & CEO, APInvest has highlighted the growing need of
renewable energy as an answer to the needs of power demand especially to address
power requirement of rural India. He gave a brief introduction of various solar
and wind power companies setting up their manufacturing facilities in Andhra
Pradesh and briefed the general perspective of expectations of the renewable
industry.

Semiconductor Ltd, Suzlon Group, Enercon, Regen Powertech, NCS Renewable
Energies Ltd, MIC Electronics Ltd, Radiant Solar KSK Surya Photovoltaic Ventures
Pvt Ltd, VANPIC, Lanco Infratech Limited, Moserbaer India Limited, Kaanthi
Power, Think Solar and representative of industry associations like CII has
participated in the interactive meeting.
Many of the representatives have expressed the need for government support on
the incentives to be offered as buy back tariff rate both at the central and
state government level. They also requested for the speedy disposal of their
request for setting up the units. Few of industry representatives requested
government to consider the visibility of clear policy initiatives on solar power
sector beyond twenty years time frame.
Some of the industry representatives have expressed their commitment to announce
their renewable power generation plans to supply to the grid if the minimum
expected buy back price is announced in line with their expectation.
