Hyderabad|India|September'2011: The Biennial Artillery Conference was inaugurated by General VK Singh, Chief of Army Staff at the Artillery Centre, Golconda, Hyderabad on 16th Sept 2011. The General Officer in his inaugural address highlighted the country’s security concerns and the pivotal role of Artillery in the context of National Security.

Lt Gen AS Lamba, Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Vinod Nayanar, Director General Artillery and other senior officers of the Artillery which include the Formation Commanders as well as a large number of Commanding Officers of units from all operational commands of the Army are participating in the deliberations. Lt. Gen Vinod Nayanar, Director General Artillery and Colonel Commandant Regiment of Artillery welcomed the delegates.

Artillery is looking for a large scale modernization, which includes induction of new generation guns, precision munitions, state-of-the-art surveillance systems and UAVs. The arm is also looking for integration of its weapon systems with an effective command & control system, with procurement & development of networking resources to maximize the ‘punch’ delivered to the enemy.
