Ride to honor the Father of the Nation.
Hyderabad|India|September'2011: The Atlanta Foundation, in
association with AP Tourism, Hyderabad Bicycling Club, Joy-of-Giving and
Let us Vote are to organize a ride to honor the Father of the Nation here
in city on October 2nd disclosed The Atlanta Foundation in a press note
issued in city.
From this year on, every October 2nd, a cycle ride will be organised to
pay tribute to Gandhi in a way that would make Father of the Nation, the
Mahatma proud!
“The Peace Ride Loop” which will be flagged off at Taramati Baradari will
travel via ORR U-turn to Bapu Ghat and back to Taramati Baradari. A unique
feature of this event is that riders get to choose their distance and ride
any self-motivated distance. The maximum distance is 142kms ride to
coincide with the Mahatma’s 142nd Birth Anniversary. This distance will be
flagged off at midnight 12am on October 2. Riders can also cycle 100kms,
10kms or multiples of 10kms anytime between 12am and 8am. Riders,
volunteers and citizens will light the Gandhi statue at Bapu Ghat through
human generated power to pay Homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
This is a ride, by the citizens, for the citizens; fully based on Gandhian
Principles; No corporate or third party sponsorship for the riders; Riders
will have to take a pledge as stated below to qualify to ride informed the
Foundation.
The Pledge of riders will be as follows.
· Support to true education is my tribute to Gandhi
· I will be the change I seek
· I pledge to teach at least ONE assigned lesson at an underprivileged
school (within next 6 months)
There is a nominal Registration fee of Rs 100 which includes cycle rental
