in City
Hyderabad|India|December'2009: The Chief
Minister Mr. K.Rosaiah, held a meeting with the DGP, Commissioner of
Police, Hyderabad and other Senior Police Officers and discussed the
issues that were brought to his attention by the members of Joint Action
Committee on Telangana consisting of R.Damodar Reddy, MLA, Suryapet;
T.Harish Rao, MLA, Siddipet; G.Kishan Reddy, MLA, Amberpet; Kadiam Srihari
and Prof. Kodandaram etc., which met the Chief Minister on Monday. The
issues were:
“There is a disparity in registration of cases in Telangana area visa-vis
the rest of the State during the periods of Telangana and Smaikya Andhra
agitation.
The hostels and messes in the Osmania University campus should be kept
open and the Police authorities should co-ordinate with the University
authorities in ensuring that only the bona fide students are permitted
into the hostels while the entry to the non-borders helping the hostel
authorities restricted”.
During discussion with senior Police officials, it is revealed that the
number of cases registered and arrests made in Telangana and the rest of
the State are in commensurate with the number of violent incidents of
crime that were reported or occurred. There need not be any correlation
between the number of cases registered with the population of each region
or any other such criteria. For example, while 530 buses got damaged and
20 buses burnt in some areas, and 84 buses got damaged and 4 buses burnt
in some other areas. It is further informed that while taking firm action
against law breakers, adequate care is being taken to see that the persons
not connected with the violent incidents are not put to any inconvenience.
The Chief Minister directed Police authorities to be impartial while
acting firmly in maintenance of Law and Order.
In regard to the University Hostels and Messes, the Police authorities
have been instructed to co-ordinate with the Professors and University
authorities and do whatever is required in maintaining peace and public
order in the campus.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the arrangements made for the bundh call
given by JAC on 30.12.2009 and instructed the Police authorities to
maintain Law and Order firmly without allowing any violence to take place.
