CM becomes a good samaritan for a meritorious student

The Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, as usual, again became a good samaritan for a meritorious boy who lost both his parents. Sanctioning the amount required for his fees at the IIIT, Nuzvid, the Chief Minister wanted When an application from the boy, Upputholla Shiva seeking a financial help of Rs.23,500 from the Chief Minister to pay his fees for the IIIT course reached him, the Chief Minister immediately sanctioned the amount and said "for a meritorious student who lost their parents, we should be the parents".

It is our bounden duty to see that he should continue his studies. "I appreciate the studious boy's anxiety to continue the studies. We should come to the help of such students. We should be his parents at this crucial time. He has a very good future. Immediately see that his fees is paid and he be allowed to continue his studies at the Nuzvid IIIT, Chief Minister directed his officials.

Upputholla Shiva is the son of late Upputholla Venkateswara Rao and Vupputholla Manga. However Shiva lost his father as soon as he was born in 1992 and lost his mother when he was 6 years old. He studies in the Vivekananda Vidyaniketan School with the help of the school management and teachers and passed the SSC examination in March, 2008 with 546 out of 600 marks and stood first in the school.

He was admitted to the Nuzvid IIIT of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies for the six year integrated course this year. Shiva applied for bank loans, but his application was rejected since in the application he mentioned his father as 'late". He was also given the transfer certificate from the IIIT showing "Discontinue". A worried Shiva as a last resort sent an application to the Chief Minister mentioning all the details and the relevant certificates.

The Chief Minister lost no time in sanctioning not only the amount but asked his officials to see that Shiva continue his studies.
