Hyderabad|India|August'2012: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)is organising "Invest North” – a Conclave to showcase Investment Opportunities in the Northern States.

The Northern Region comprising of the eight states of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and UT of Chandigarh is the largest in the country. It accounts for 30.7% of the geographical expanse, is home to 30.5% of Indian population, and is the largest contributor to the national GDP at 25.4% and industrial output at 25.6%.

Sectors in the Northern Region offering immense opportunity include agriculture & agro based industries; infrastructure projects including power; manufacturing especially – auto & auto components, pharmaceuticals, textiles, chemicals, machinery & equipment manufacturing, consumer products; services sector – including tourism, IT & ITES, Real Estate, Healthcare & Education. Accordingly, many of these states have drafted New Industrial and Sectoral Policies to attract potential investors.

The Northern States are keen to seek fresh investments and forge new partnerships that would enable them to leverage their growth potential. There is, amongst them, a growing sense of urgency and a ready willingness to change for the better, to introduce practices which will not only retain existing investors but also attract new investors. In this regard, Governments of Northern States have requested CII for leadership in catalyzing a makeover of their relative attractiveness vis a vis other progressive States.

In this context, this Conclave is being organised. The Conclave is a unique initiative providing a platform for dialogue between industry and State Governments and highlighting strengths and investment opportunities of all the northern states.

The Conclave will focus on Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Agri & Agri business and Tourism. It will have participation from Prospective Investors – both domestic & global, Industry Leaders, Governments, Trade Bodies & Associations, Entrepreneurs and Academic & Research Institutions.

With a view to promote the Conclave a Road show on Invest North is being organised on 09 August 2012 from 1830 hrs at Hotel Taj Krishna, Hyderabad.
