1,000 students from city colleges
join Congress party
Hyderabad|India|December'2008:Around 1,000 students from 17 colleges
of Hyderabad & Secunderabad led by their leader Mr.Mukaram Ali Siddique
joined in Congress party in the presence of Chief Minister
Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp office. Mr.Danam Nagendra who
facilitated the meeting was also present.
Addressing the students, the Chief Minister welcomed them to the Congress
party and wished them all the best in the coming New Year. Expressing his
happiness at their decision to join the Congress party student wing, the
Chief Minister hoped that they would work for the betterment of the
student community at large and provide all needful support to the needy.
He said that the Government in the past few years has realized the
potential of the youth in the State. "Our major strength lies in our human
resources of 110 core in the country and about eight and half crore in the
State. The human resources if given proper training and utilized properly
they would become a productive resource. If not they may get perverted and
turn into anti-social. The Government therefore, is doing everything to
channelize the youth force into a proper, productive, useful purpose. We
are providing better and quality education to the youngsters. We wish that
youth should study in technical, professional collelges and by the time
they come out of the colleges, they should be in a position to get
absorbed into proper jobs. There are so many opportunities at present.
Even in the regular degree colleges if proper training is given in the
soft skills, such students have ample opportunities of getting absorbed in
BPOs. With this in view, the Government want to saturate the student
scholarships. We want to give necessary fees for every minority, B.C,
S.C.&ST student so that every one of these poorer sections of the society
would get a proper education of their choice. Our motto is to see to it
that any one who wants to get a better education, a college or a technical
education should not feel that just because of their parents not have
money, they are not able to get proper education. When we came into the
office, in the first year of 2004-05 the total amount of scholarlships
that were being paid to minorities was just Rs.5 crore. Today, we are
paying Rs.147 crore. In any private engineering college, the college fees
is ranging between Rs30,000 to Rs.36,000. This year, we have seen to it
that no minority student needs to pay this money. Just a minority
certificate will entitle them a free seat. In a medical college, under 50%
of the convener's quota, if a minority, B.C., SC or ST student gets
admission, he does not need to pay a single pie. Just his caste
certificate is enough. From next June, we want to extend the same benefit
even to the forward class students who are economically poor. All those
families whose annual income is less than one lakh rupees per annum, the
fee reimbursement is applicable and I want every one of you to get the
best of education.
There are so many job opportunities in the present liberalized society.
Industrialization is fast progressing. Along with industries, so much of
job opportunities are coming. Special Economic Zones are coming. Lots of
exports will enable more of industrial growth and more industrial growth
needs more of eligible employable boys and girls. That is what we are
doing and
that is what we are trying to do.
I only hope and wish that every one of you stand up to the challenges,
take the challenge as opportunities are plenty. If we don't seize the
opportunities, we will be left behind. I do not want any student to grow
into adulthood and waste his future. I want everyone of you to be very
productive, to have quality education, quality training and get every
possible best of the thing in you future lives. A proper, good and vibrant
society can get built only with proper, useful human resource. That is
what we believe in and I hope that every one to rise up to the occasion".
