Police raid computer shops in CTC indulging in sale of duplicate Laptop
batteries & adaptors: 5 Held
Hyderabad|India|June'2012: The sleuths of Commissioner’s
Task Force, North Zone Team conducted surprise raids on several shops in
CTC building, Parklane, Secunderabad and apprehended five persons who are
indulging in sale of duplicate adaptors and batteries of Laptop of reputed
companies like HP, Lenova, Toshiba and C.E. seized 350 batteries and 330
adaptors, 1100 Holograms and packing material all worth of Rs. 14 lakhs.
On receipt of credible information North Zone Task Force Team along with
the authorities of HP company conducted surprise raids on several shops in
CTC Building, Parklane, Secunderabad who are indulging in sale of
duplicate batteries and adaptors of reputed companies like HP, Lenova, CE,
Dell and Toshiba.
The accused were purchasing the duplicate batteries, adaptors and
holograms from Mumbai, Delhi and from some persons in Hyderabad who never
disclose their identity. They were purchasing these duplicate products
ranging from Rs. 800/- Rs. 900/- and selling the same for Rs. 2900/- to Rs.
3000/-.
On verifying the above duplicate batteries and adaptors the mandatory
particulars to be displayed under section 52-A of Copyright act were not
found. The manufacturing details and ownership particulars are also not
found.
The accused persons along with the seized property were handed over to
Mahankali Police Station for necessary legal action.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Sri.Ch. Ramchander, Dy.
Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force by Sri. L. R. Venkat
Reddy, Inspector of Police, North Zone Task Force Team with the assistance
of Sis. L. Ramanjaneyulu, A. Suryanarayana and staff of North Zone Task
Force team.
The Police have appealed to public that duplicate products are unsafe and
not long lasting. Use of duplicate products may cause harm to Laptop. If
observed carefully, duplicate products can easily be identified.People
have been asked to inform about the sale of duplicate products if any to
their nearest Police Station or Task Force.
