Hyderabad|India|September'2010: Indo American Cancer Institute and Research Centre has inaugurated three different services to serve the cancer patients by the Hospital. First among them was a Cytogenetics Test Facility, which was first in Hyderabad.

Keeping up the motto of providing affordable cancer care to all especially to downtrodden people, Sri Bala Krishna went on to inaugurate a special billing facility . This facility is being setup to speedup the clearances for Arogyasri patients, so that treatment can be given in faster manner.
Later Sri Bala Krishna inaugurated an APSRTC bus service 47 Z/C from Secunderabad Railway Station to Indo American Cancer Institute. This was the fulfilment of a long pending demand by patients coming to hospital along with staff. After inaugurating the service, Bala Krishna boarded the bus to get first ticket from the conductor.

Finally Sri Bala Krishna performed the Puja’s at Ganesha temple in the premises. Speaking on this occasion, Honourable Chairman has reiterated Institute’s commitment towards helping the poor and providing best cancer care to all the patients. He also announced that soon some more facilities will also be included in the hospital once the new building is ready.

Sri Bala Krishna has asked the people to utilise the new cytogenetics test facility being established institute for the first time in Hyderabad. He also assured that Institute will not compromise in providing quality medical care. He also asked the patients to utilise the bus facility being provided by APSRTC.

Along with Sri Bala Krishna, the program was attended by institute’s CEO Sri RP Singh, COO Sri D.Satyanarayana, Smt. Neeraja, Administrator of Hospital and other staff, patients.

Indo American Cancer Institute & Research Centre was the first centre to establish molecular genetics lab specialised in Cancer genetics 2 ½ years ago by introducing FISH (fluorescence in situ Hybridization) for the first time in this part of south India. Another feather in it’s cap is now the state of art cytogenetic facility specially related to cancer with specialised doctors and technologists working as team.

Cytogenetic facility is being used in diagnosis of types of blood cancer such as Lukemias, Lymphomas. These are characterised by specific genetic abnormalities that can be detected by Bone Marrow Cytogenetics. Diagnosis using Bone Marrow Cytogenetics is mandatory as per as the WHO Guidelines. These genetic abnormalities are the key to the diagnosis of different types of malignancies, for prognostication treatment and follow-up.

Hitherto these Cancer Cytogenetic Services were so far being outsourced. . Indo American takes pride acquiring in state of art equipment for starting the cancer cytogenetic services. This facility will help us to serve blood cancer patients in a better manner with excellent quality. It reduces time lag in getting the reports.

The institute would shortly be coming up with markers specific to cancers by the application of PCR in diagnosis and prognostication of various blood cancers & solid tumours.

The institute has been offering un stinted services in the field of cancer diagnosis for the past 10 years and has been instrumental in introducing flow cytometry in diagnosis of acute Leukemias, Stem Cell Enumeration for the first time in the state. The centre also recorded the maximum number of frozen sections since its inception enabling appropriate diagnosis and direction for adequate surgeries in Cancer.
