Strategy: Getting the right people -an initiative

State Bank of India, organized a Seminar on ‘Human Capital Strategy –
Getting the right people’. This seminar focused on issues pertaining to HR
policies prevalent within an organization and the growing role of human
capital management as a business driver. It also threw light on the role
of HR in the current market, the changing demographics and its impact on
the workforce, across sectors such as ITES/KPO; manufacturing etc.
Discussing his views on the various measures that can be taken by HR
managers, Mr. K Pandurang Rao Group Head – Human Resources &
Administration IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects Ltd said, “Change is the
order of the day and no one can stop it. A structured orientation
programme for the employees will help proper functioning of the
organization. With respect to recruitments, past experience is becoming
irrelevant, and what is important is that the HR managers find the right
talent that will work and recruit the right person for the right job.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Prabir Jha, Senior Vice President & Global
Head – Human Resources, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd said “intrinsic
motivation, influence, process, work activities, resources, customer
context are the most powerful drivers of HR. Employees are willing to work
in an organization where their skills are being recognized and respected.
Entrepreneurial skills are the key for any organizations growth and 80% of
the development happens with willingness to take risk”.
