Eco-Everest Base Camp Cleanup Trip by
Hyderabadis

Hyderabad|India|August'2011: For Hyderabadis the
recent litter cleanup drives at Durgam cheruvu and Anathagiri Hills may
have been easy but the city adventurers from the reat Hyderabad Adventure
Club are going high as 17500 feet with temperatures of - 20 degrees to the
Everest Base camp, Nepal this October on a litter cleanup drive.
The Everest region attracts thousands of visitors every year, while its
good for the local economy its gets bad for the environment.Visitors Leave
back hoards of waste in form of plastic, paper and bottles. A Team from
Hyderabad will leave for a 15 days Trek cum
cleanup drive at the Everest Base Camp from 08 to 23 October 2011.Everest
Base camp Trek is one of the top 10 destinations to visit before one dies
as per lonely planet.
The Team will spend 2 days doing the cleapup at the Base Camp and the
litter collected will be segregated into compost and buried down at
Gorakshep Village. The rest of the non biodegradable litter will carried
down to the village of Namche and deposited at the Garbage bins. The Team
will put up no litter placards and create Eco-conservation awareness among
the visitors and local population as they move from village to village on
the journey to the base camp and back. The participants will be undergoing
rigorous training for 1 month in the city with heavy backpacks ascending
steep hills and climbing steps for a month as part of preparation for the
trek and cleanup drive.
