'Fete de la Musique' World Music Day held at Taj Deccan

Hyderabad|India|June '2011: ‘Fete de la Musique,’ the music event of the year, was presented to Hyderabadis at the Taj Deccan by the U.S. Consulate General, Alliance Française-Hyderabad and Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad in association with the Hyderabad Western Music Forum.

The international cultural centers organized a wide range of musical genres from Western Classical to Jazz to American Bluegrass on World Music Day, June 15 at the Taj Deccan.

As part of the festival, the U.S Consulate General presented the ‘Banjara Hillibillies,’ Hyderabad’s first American Bluegrass Music band. The group comprising of four American expats came together in late 2010. Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music, and is a sub-genre of country music, traditionally played on acoustic stringed instruments.

Performances kicked off with some soulful Western Classical music by Iryna Tsarenko and group followed by Ujjal’s Jazz Trio. The stage then was set for Savage Folk R ‘n’B by Max Turner and Eugene Yuvaraj.

The penultimate performance of the evening was by the American Bluegrass band by Banjara Hillibillies and the festival closed with French pop/rock band “Betty Argo.”
