Govt to provide 150 acres for construction of new High Court complex
Hyderabad|India|September'2009:The Chief Minister K. Rosaiah
assured the Chief Justice of A.P.High Court, Justice A.R.Dave that the
Government will provide 150 acres for construction of new High Court
complex. He has visited the High Court buildings along with the Law
Minister, Mr.M.Venkataramana, senior officials concerned and went round
the damaged portion of the court buildings. Later along with the Chief
Justice and other officials, the Chief Minister spent more than 45 minutes
and noted the details of the fire mishap. He was informed that the damage
caused by the fire to the High Court is estimated around Rs.2.50 crore.As
it was opined that the present complex is not safe and suitable to
continue, and as per the request made by the Bar Association and Bar
Council, the Government took a proactive stand to provide 150 acres, at a
convenient and suitable area for the new High Court complex in which
provision will be made, apart from the Court buildings, for the
residential quarters of the Judges, administrative blocks, Bar
Association/Council etc.
The Chief Minister said the Government is committed to protect great
monuments like A.P. High Court and would take steps to repair and renovate
the damaged structure and pave way for temporary accommodation until new
complex is in place. He also directed the D.G. Fire Services to take
preventive steps and ensure that such type of fire mishaps does not occur
in the present complex.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had a detailed discussion with senior
officials of Police, Fire, R&B and Law officials in his chambers at
Secretariat before leaving for the High Court.
It may be recalled that the then Chief Minister, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy
had reviewed about the fire mishap of A.P. High Court on 1st September and
assured that the Government would extend all help to the authorities in
refurbishing the High Court which was constructed 90 years ago.
Chief Secretary P Ramakantha Reddy, City Commissioner of Police, Director
General (Fire Services), MD, HMDA, Jawahar Reddy, District Collector,
Hyderabad and officials R&B Department accompanied the Chief Minister.
