Hyderabad|India|December'2011: The excitement never stops at
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), as was evident at the ‘Miles & Smiles
Rally 2011’ organized by HMIL for the award winning EON in Hyderabad. The
rally was flagged off by Dr. Jayasudha, Actress and MLA. Covering a total
distance of approximately 100 kms, the rally was flagged off from Hotel
Taj Banjara, Banjara Hills and culminated at the same point.
Sponsored by the Indian Oil and HOEC Bardahl, the rally saw an
overwhelming response with as many as 80 Hyundai EON - customers and their
families participating with enthusiasm.
The ‘Miles & Smiles Rally’ is organized by HMIL to help its customers in
different cities acquaint themselves better with their cars – learn the
techniques of fuel efficient driving, calculate the mileage per liter and
also win exciting prizes in the process. The rally is a special initiative
of HMIL to create awareness about the judicious use of scarce fossil fuels
and considering increasing price of fuel, this activity will promote fuel
efficient driving habits among Hyundai customers in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing & Sales, HMIL,
said, “The Miles and Smiles rally is an effort to educate our customers
about the growing significance of fuel-efficient driving, while having a
great time with their families. This is for the first time we have
organised Miles & Smiles for our newly launched Hyundai EON. Hyundai EON
is a car powered with mileage friendly frugal engine and coupled with
inbuilt functions for eco-efficient driving.”
The rally began with an interesting presentation on the techniques of fuel
efficient driving after which the participants tanked up at a nearby IOCL
filling station; the tanks were sealed after the fuelling and no one was
allowed to refuel during the rally. The odometer readings were noted by
the organizers and the trip meter was made ‘zero’.
After the flag off, the participants drove on the pre-determined route
which took them towards Tadbund and then taking a U-turn from Dabilpur.
At the end of the rally the cars were re-filled and the amount of fuel
consumed was measured again and the participant who had used the minimum
amount of fuel was declared the winner. Prizes included a cash award of Rs
15,000 for the winner, Rs 10,000 and Rs 6,000 for the first and second
runners up respectively in each category of cars along with three
consolation place of Rs.3000/- each.
