IIL launches Advanced Nutraceutical
Products for Dairy Animals
Hyderabad|India|Indian
Immunologicals Ltd. (IIL) has launched a new generation of products in
animal nutrition for higher productivity and fat content in milk in dairy
cattle. The products launched were - Goudhara Shakti (Rumen protected
bypass fat, fortified with live yeast and herbal galcagogues), Goudhara
(Rumen protected bypass fat) and Gousac (Live yeast powder). Coinciding
with the launch was a technical seminar held in Green Park Hotel,
Hyderabad , which was attended by a large number of senior officials from
milk unions, dairy federations, as well as dairy farmers and veterinary
doctors from the southern states.
These products, developed through technological inputs from the National
Dairy Development Board and proven through rigorous field trials at
leading veterinary colleges, offer an opportunity to the dairy farmers to
optimize their feeding of animals, improve fat and energy intake, improve
digestion and thereby increase milk production as well as fat percentage
in milk.
The launch of these nutraceutrical products is also consistent with NDDB’s
National Dairy Plan, which seeks to enhance milk production from 100
Million MT to 180 million MT in next 15 years, largely through improved
nutrition and improved genetics. IIL will work closely with dairy
cooperatives and organized dairies to help farmers benefit from these new
technologies through latest management tools such as ration balancing.
Considering that nearly 60% of the cost of managing dairy animals goes
into feed for animals, this approach is expected to contribute
substantially towards improving profitability of dairy farmers, who are
mostly small and landless farmers with low purchasing power.
Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the
National Dairy Development Board, is a biotech major in India and ranks
7th among all biotechnology companies in India and 5th among all
bio-pharmaceutical companies in India . IIL is also the No. 1 animal
vaccine manufacturer and among the top three animal health companies in
India . IIL’s “Raksha” brand of FMD vaccine is the largest selling brand
in the animal health market in India .
