Children have the potential to lead the fight
against
climate change – Sadhguru
Jaggi Vasudev

Hyderabad|India|August'2010: Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar
Awardee Sadhguru will be in Hyderabad on a 3 day visit ( August 28-30) to
participate in a green cover initiative to be launched by 1000’s of school
students on Monday. While in Hyderabad, Sadhguru will also be felicitated
by Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. K. Rosaiah in a function hosted
by the P.V Narasimha Rao International Foundation, to acknowledge his
achievements in Green Initiatives and winning the Indira Gandhi Paryavaran
Puraskar.
The potential impact on children has been a critical missing element from
the debate about climate change world over. It is very important to
rapidly develop a greater understanding of the impact of climate change
and environmental concerns on children and take appropriate measures to
protect them from its consequences.
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev says “There is a strong case for engaging children
as actors in the climate change agenda, rather than treating them as
passive observers or victims. Small realizable campaign like planting of
saplings will go a long way in strengthening children role in protecting
not only the environment but also their future.” Sadhguru will be in city
to launch and support a green cover initiative by 1000’s of students. He
will also give a short discourse on the importance of environment
protection at the school and about the various Initiatives School and
Children can champion in addition to the Green Cover Initiative.
Sadhguru speaks at some of the world's most prominent international
leadership forums. In January 2007, he participated in four panels at the
World Economic Forum and spoke on issues ranging from diplomacy and
economic development, to education and the environment. In 2006, he
addressed the World Economic Forum, the Tallberg Forum in Sweden, and the
Australian Leadership Retreat. He has also served as a delegate to the
United Nations Millennium Peace Summit and the World Peace Congress.
