International Women’s Day
Celebration @ Jain Heritage

Hyderabad|India|March'2009: The International
Women’s Day was first celebrated in 1911, as a proposal of Mrs. Clara
zetkin to spread solidarity among women to know their rights and to enjoy
Equality with their male counter parts. To commemorate the same, The Jain
Heritage School, Kondapur and Toddlers International Play School jointly
organized a “Panel Discussion” on “Are Women free In Free India?”.
The Panel for discussion comprised of seven renowned women from different
walks of life. Smt. Sharada Ashok Vardhan, Joint Director of Information
and Public Relations (Retd) and a famous writer, Ms Aruna, News Bureau
Chief & Features Head Local TV, Smt. Sumathy, IPS, Superintendent of
Police Crime Investigation Department (CID), AP Police Dept. Govt of A P.,
Mrs. Vani, Advocate High Court, Smt. C. H. Lakshmi Rao, a philanthropist
and Social Worker, Smt. Raja Lakshmi, Manager in Bank Of India, and Smt.
Lakshmi Rao, Principal, Jain Heritage school. All the panelists
collectively voiced against the Gender discrimination faced by today’s
working Ladies. They felt that as educated women they have to bring
awareness among the women folk about their rights as well as duties. Every
speaker has expressed her happiness and delight about the remarkable
achievements made by great women in different fields like Kalpana Chawla,
Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Pratibha Singh Patel, Ms. Sania Mirza
etc.
On this occasion a pageant on “Women achievers” representing, Mother
Theresa, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Smt. Sarojini Naidu, Smt. Kalpana Chawla, Smt.
Arundhati Roy, Booker Prize winner, Ms. Sania Mirza, was presented by tiny
tots of TJIS –TODDLERS as a tribute in recognition of their contribution
to our country.
