Projects should be completed by 2012-13: CM

Reddy had a three-hour long detailed review on the ongoing
Jalayagnam Projects in the State. He said the 43 prioritised
projects should be put on fast track and completed at the earliest.
At the same time, the Chief Minister said preliminary works on other
projects also should go on and after the completion of the first 43
projects, the rest should also be put on fast track.
The Chief Minister made it very clear that Jalyagnam Projects will
continue to be State Government's priority and it is committed to
complete all the projects taken up. The Chief Minister also said
that funds will be worked out for completion of all the projects and
he will discuss the issue with the finance department.
The Chief Minister enquired in detail about the progress of all the
86 projects taken up so far under Jalayagnam. He also asked the
officials about the firm water allocation (project wise) and flood
water allocation etc. He also asked the officials about the extent
of water released to ayacuts under the completed projects. Mr. Kiran
Kumar Reddy told the officials to be absolutely clear and
transparent about the extent of ayacut provided water and the
irrigation potential created so far. He wanted district, mandal and
village-wise details about this at the earliest.
Officials assured the Chief Minister that 11 prioritised projects
(2,45,206 acres new & 31,306 acres stabilisation) and partial
completion of 16 projects (3,03,000 acres new & 27,000 acres
stabilisation) will be completed by kharif 2011. They also told the
Chief Minister that 15 projects (9,52,035 acres new & 22,832 acres
stabilisation) and partial completion of 3 projects (2,50,000 acres
new) will be completed by kharif 2012.
The Chief Minister said the work on all the projects nearing
completion should be speeded up. He said he will also take up all
the pending issues with the Government of India and get the
clearances at the earliest. The Chief Minister also heard from the
officials in brief about the inter-State issues, land acquisition
and related matters.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that the criterion for
prioritisation are: the projects nearing physical completion, no
major bottlenecks and all statutory clearances in place, regional
balance, projects under AIBP and benefits in the near future.
